You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Research and Development Division of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.

Duties

You will track, implement, maintain, and update energetic inventory database(s). You will audit inventory, and ensure compliance with all appropriate policies. You will handle the safe movement of energetic material on-site, interfacing with Research, Development , Test and Evaluation activities to process movements to various locations, and will maintain required accreditations to do so. You will manage energetic storage magazine, PET boxes, scrap sheds, etc. and keep them in compliance with all current policies. You will maintain and support Laboratory sample tracking, becoming knowledgeable in appropriate Laboratory software.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain Qualifications/Certifications to become certified as an explosives handler.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-3 (GS-9/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering procedures to provide technical oversight on control measures or inventory management of energetic or hazardous material for a ordnance program.
