Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Supervisory Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Analyzes and develops implementation procedures and provides assistance and recommendations to strengthen the State substance use prevention planning and implementation.
Ensures that plans for grant compliance reviews are developed and that necessary monitoring of
grants occur.
Develops briefing materials and provides guidance to staff on a variety of subjects and topics
related to substance use health, substance use illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Manages the planning, direction and execution of all functions and provides administrative and technical oversight of subordinate staff.
Manages program priorities to ensure proper operation and to respond to changing client needs in accordance with industry and organization technical standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications: Basic Requirements for all Public Health Program Specialist Series, 0685 positions require that you demonstrate specialized experience in each of the following five competencies:
Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities.
Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings.
Knowledge of a specialized public health program.
Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions.
Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
AND
Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing two of the three following:
Leading technical, analytical, and program guidance and oversight on all aspects of health related federally funded initiatives to include technical assistance and evaluation.
Developing briefing materials and providing guidance to staff on a variety of subjects and topics related to substance use prevention, substance use treatment and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Analyzing information pertaining to behavioral health issues within the States and Territories to synthesize key points for clear and concise communication.
