This position is located in the FAA Office of the Administrator, Executive Support Staff, Office of the Executive Secretariat. The Executive Secretariat functions as the Administrator's Agency-wide coordination and communications mechanism for written correspondence. It is the authoritative channel for official written communications between the FAA, Secretary of Transportation, Congress, and the White House.
Duties
The Writer-Editor applies experience and advanced knowledge of writing and editing polices and processes to research, edit, and draft written responses to information requests received in the Administrator's office, including documents that contain sensitive company-proprietary trade secrets, pre-decisional agency policy information, and sensitive labor management pre-negotiation strategies.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Unless previously completed, the incumbent must satisfactorily complete a 1-year probationary period
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-G, FG/GS-11 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IS DEFINED AS:Experience using electronic document management systems to identify, route, control, coordinate, edit and dispatch correspondence addressed to, signed by, or of current and potential interest to senior managers, andExperience using and adhering to GPO Style Manual and Plain language guidelines and writing requirements to draft, proofread and edit correspondence and documents for grammatical correctness, punctuation, clarity, tone and consistency.
