About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Personnel Recovery Coordination Officer and senior technical advisor on overall Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape and Personnel Recovery (SERE/PR) and reintegration mission, and targeted operations, core competencies, organizational make-up, stationing strategy, and resourcing of the command and its interaction with joint services.

Duties

Advises Combatant Commanders on Non-Conventional Assisted Recovery (NAR) and other means to protect US Personnel deployed in support of Overseas Contingency Operations worldwide in support of reintegration Phase I and II operations. Independently formulate and execute new Personnel Recovery concepts and operations, and un-reviewed actions and decisions within the overall policies, program objectives, and funding limitations established by higher authority. Resolve critical problems of a unique or non-repetitive nature and in managing and in making recommendations that enhance the effectiveness of SOUTHCOM recovery services ranging from casualty evacuation and combat search and rescue. As technical authority, the incumbent provides Personnel Recovery teams, the commander, and managers with authoritative advice and direction on training programs, funding, and overall operations and sustainment to ensure unit readiness. Incumbent makes decisions in resolving critical problems and making recommendations that enhance the effectiveness of SOUTHCOM recovery services.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require employee to possess a TOP SECRET Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) at time of employment, and maintain TS/SCI security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position is designated as Emergency-Essential (EE).
  • Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
  • Frequent travel is required, at times for an extended period of 35% or more.
  • Incumbent required to obtain and maintain an Official US Passport.
  • Travel to Overseas locations include Central and South America, the Caribbean and other countries that might require specific immunizations and training/certification.
  • Incumbent must comply with DoD Foreign Clearance Guide, US Southern Command, US Army South, JTFs, and US MILGRP requirements for entry into and operations in country while on TDY and/or deployed or TDY.
  • Incumbent is required to temporarily work extended and irregularly tours of duty to include holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain various certifications in Joint Personnel Recovery Agency regulations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
  • This position is inclement weather essential. Incumbent is required to report to and/or remain at work during severe and inclement weather.
