You will serve as the Supervisory Management Analyst/Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff (G-3/5) in the Marine Forces Reserve Operations and Plans Department in New Orleans, LA .

Duties

You will serve as the Deputy and primary assistant to the Assistant Chief of Staff with full responsibility for the management and direction of the G-3/5 Department and its programs. You will supervise, both technically and administratively, the entire G-3/5 staff, consisting of more than 50 military and civilian members. You will coordinate and oversee the activities of the Executive Section, the Operations Division, the Training and Readiness Division, and the Protection Division. You will implement and delegate tasks involved in determining the requirements and way ahead for the management and direction of the G-3/5 Department programs. You will generate documentation and guidance in support of plans, policy, and oversight of the Marine Forces Reserve Command for guidance of operational readiness and the employment of reserve forces. You will be responsible to advise, inform, and brief the Commander Marine Forces Reserve (3 Star Command) on all MARFORRES Operations and Readiness. You will coordinate with four Major Subordinate Commands regarding manning, training, and equipping responsibilities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Analyzing and advising on requirements and resource allocation in support of key strategic and operational plans; 2) Providing expertise in leadership management, supervision, and administration of staff by providing direction in meeting long and near-term mission objectives; 3) Coordinating and collaborating with high-level internal and external stakeholders to ensure program needs are addressed and program goals are met; 4) Coordinating and integrating multiple complex program segments to ensure continuous and ready support; and 5) Leading subordinates by providing technical guidance, setting priorities, delegating tasks, and overseeing completion of work to ensure efficient operations.
