About the Position: Serve as the Physical Security Specialist for the Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Engineering Directorate Mechanical Electrical Division Electronic Security Branch, Huntsville, AL.
This is a OVERHIRE position.
Duties
Develops approach for furnishing technical advice and guidance on Electronic Security Center (ECS) Electronic Security systems Mandatory Center of Expertise (ESS-MCS) assignments.
Establishing of ESS related criteria, performance of ESS applications assessments and surveys.
Advise customers in ESS program policies, technical procedures, and design issues and parameters.
Incumbent conducts special studies of state-of the art ESS applications and problems that arise during design, installation, testing, and operations.
Participates in technical forums with various Army and other Government agencies, as well as commercial industry, in development and improvement of various technical policy, procedures and criteria.
Participates in HQUSACE teams and action groups to investigate special problems and issues dealing with planning for ESS deployment and expansions, and other issues required to solve complex technical problem areas.
Expertise is provided to customers on both a national and international basis. Resolves ESS technical and fielding issues for hardware/software in the design, installation, and operations phases of deployment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first Three years of employment.
- TDY required up to 30%.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Physical Security Certification (PSC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes recommending methods for utilizing Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to enhance overall physical security through modifications/applications of new techniques and evolving state of the art technology; conducting security training and briefings; developing and implementing national and international level guidance in-standards, guidelines, or policies for Electronic Security Systems associated with major security programs; recommending to commands development and assessment of long range studies and requirements for physical security equipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
