As the COMSEC Service Authority with the Network and Telecommunications Services (NaTS) Service Line in the Office of the Chief Information Officer you will provide management oversight of the NASA COMSEC Central Office of Record (COR) and all NASA-assigned COMSEC accounts. You will establish new accounts and appointments of COMSEC account managers (CAMs) and alternate CAMs. You will establish procedures for the implementation of national-level COMSEC policies.
Duties
Provides COMSEC Support for all NASA missions and operations that require cryptographic key material support from the NASA Central Office of Record (COR) including science and research missions, human spaceflight operations, and future NASA missions.
Conducts technical exchanges with commercial space entities, ISS, Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Next Generation Relay, and others facilitating crypto design and support, testing crypto components and ensuring COMSEC for mission needs.
Provides COMSEC support for commercial crew and Space Communications and Navigation, assessing and defining requirements for the protection of national security.
Participates in national forums and working groups addressing COMSEC spaceflight challenges and offering recommendations or solutions.
Provides technical expertise on COMSEC by participating in studies or working groups designed to improve methods of operations and by identifying and offering recommendations for COMSEC operational issues.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
Defining NASA requirements for protecting cryptographic materials while providing direction and oversight regarding COMSEC to NASA missions implementing these requirements;
Reviewing and assessing Executive Orders, national policies, agency directives, and/or legislation to aid NASA COMSEC; and
Conducting data calls to NASA centers for COMSEC holdings and providing reports and assessments on COMSEC operations, management, requirements, and compliance.
