You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in the MANPOWER MANAGEMENT DIVISION of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Duties
You will verify military service by researching current and historical records.
You will extract and research personnel data from Personnel Files (OMPFs), Health Records, Service Record books, source documents, and military personnel systems and databases.
You will utilize the Marine Corps Total Force System, Unit Diary/Manpower Information System, the Operational Data Store Module, Separation and Retirement System and the Separation and Retirement Staffing System to perform required actions.
You will process inactive reserve retirements and survivor benefits.
You will process active duty administrative separations and retirements.
You will prepare travel orders for family members to accompany Marines with disabilities.
You will coordinate with DFAS representatives to correct discrepancies and to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reserve retired pay.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expertise in clerical and administrative support duties. Specialized experience must include performing most of the following duties: Researching and extracting data from an automated personnel database to verify military personnel records; 2) Determining eligibility of benefits utilizing knowledge of military separations and retirement procedures; 3) Preparing accurate official correspondence; 4) Retrieving, researching, and analyzing information from office automation databases and online systems to solve issues, reconstruct documents, and respond to queries.
GS-08:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expertise in clerical and administrative support duties. Specialized experience must include performing most of the following duties: 1) Researching and extracting data from an automated personnel database to verify and/or reconstruct personnel records; 2) Determining eligibility of benefits utilizing knowledge of military separations and retirement procedures; 3) Preparing travel orders and budget estimates; 4) Updating, revising, sorting, calculating and manipulating data using electronic mail, spreadsheets, and database software functions; and 5) Processing separations, retirements and benefits in accordance with regulations and procedures.
