The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the 20 FW information Assurance Officer (IAO) for Advanced Programs with responsibility for planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity and systems.
Duties
Organizes and executes Information Assurance activities of the wing Program Security Office, ensuring that Information Security and Automated Information_ Systems Security functional work areas comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Administrator for Wing Advanced Programs local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
Manages the Network Security Program. Implements and advises on IT security policies and procedures to ensure protection of information transmitted to the installation, among organizations on the installation, and from the installation using Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), or other communications modes.
Provides customer technical assistance, training and support.

- The employee may be required to travel TDY, sometimes on short notice, traveling in military and/or commercial aircraft or by any other designated means.

- The employee must posses a Top Secret security clearance or be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance and be eligible for Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Continued... and Top Secret Special Access Program (SAP) access. Informational and personnel security background checks are mandatory.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as overtime, weekends, callback, uncommon tour of duty, holidays, etc. May be required to carry a phone.
- The employee will be required to have, or obtain, and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
- Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3.
- Continued.. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
- This is a key position. It cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission. Incumbent must perform key duties and may be required to take part in mobility exercises.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- PCS is not authorized.
- This is a term position not to exceed December 31, 2026.
Qualifications

Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes Applying a full range of IT network systems design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in planning, developing, testing, installing, operating, administering, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. Ensures the organizations network architecture, topology, and protocols sufficient to plan, design, develop and integrate network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructures.

EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge and ability to manage special access programs, computers, communications, industrial, information, physical and personnel security sufficient enough to apply the concepts, principles, and practices to plan and
implement security programs in these areas.
Knowledge of Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Program security principles, practices and policies related to information systems security.
Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing work, and managing people to meet mission priorities.
Skill in developing written policies rules and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
