This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Cyber Security to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a TERM NTE 2 years Supv. IT Specialist position located with U.S. Army Central, Training Section, HQ Directorate at Shaw AFB, SC.
This position may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Serves as the Chief, Mission Training Complex Information Technology Plans/Cyber Security Branch.
Provides management and leadership to the Simulations/Technical Support section.
Resolves critical, technical problems in existing systems or models using knowledge of established guidelines and application of MTC policies and procedures.
Coordinates with the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) and other activities to resolve critical cyber security issues.
Provides technical support, expertise, and advice in the areas of telecommunications and data communications to the Army and other services.
Supervises a team of IT Specialists to include assigning work, assessing performance, completing hiring actions, developing training plans, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Special Sensitive/SCI clearance required.
- Drug testing required.
- This position has been designated as Key.
- This is a TERM NTE 2 years position.
- One-year term trial period required.
- Incumbent will be required to sign a statement of understanding (SOU) regarding term employment.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing of all information systems, models and simulation, networking operations, and cybersecurity for Mission Training Complex (MTC); 2) Developing supplemental technical and procedural documents to provide guidance and control of MTC telecommunications, networks, and programs; AND 3) Supervising a team of IT professionals to include assigning work, assessing performance, completing hiring actions, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
