You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL-HYDRAULICS) (Shop 38A) in the MECHANICAL DIVISION (TRF-320), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will provide immediate technical and authoritative assistance on urgent mission-degrading production related to problems and troubleshooting efforts of complex mechanical system/equipment problems. You will provide technical guidance for I-level repair efforts. You will make recommendations to Engineering for diagnostic and operability tests in assigned functional areas required for SSBN/SSGN refit periods. You will provide production repair guidance to TRIREFFAC Repair Department for the resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond their level of in-house production shop expertise. You will represent TRIREFFAC-KB at both formal and informal conferences and discussions pertaining to his/her subsystem specialties.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position must be able to maintain an IT 11 designation.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position will be required to travel for worldwide deployment including Diego Garcia.
  • You must pass physical requirements (DGAR) screening to allow deployment in support of SSGN overseas voyage repairs.
  • The incumbent of this position may be assigned to any basic workweek, shift hours, and overtime.
  • May be required to travel as the need arises for purposes such as training, attendance at meetings, and participation in work efforts at other shore activities and onboard ships and submarines at sea.
  • The incumbent may also be required to perform duties which involve exposure to a variety of industrial working conditions and environments.
  • You will be required to satisfactory pass physical requirements necessary for the satisfactory performance of work in the position.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing subject matter expertise for submarine machinery, systems and equipment. Experience working with and possess broad knowledge of production shop principles, practices and theories. Experience providing technical assistance to resolve production related problems. Experience communicating with senior ship's officers and exercise of leadership, tact and persuasion. Experience providing technical training. Experience developing test plans and procedures.
