You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the RES Engineering Division/SPK20/SPK28 Engineering Division of SWFLANT KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will perform a variety of technical assignments requiring practical engineering expertise in order to maintain or solve problems of operation, efficiency and reliability. You will gather facts, identify issues, and develop recommendations to resolve complex problems that may involve interrelated systems. You will assess considerable amounts of data and make decisions concerning work plans and techniques to be used. You will resolve production problems and reduce cost of operations though work standardization and simplification, engineered standards, facilities and equipment, and manpower utilization. You will participate in formal publication of accomplishments in peer reviewed and/or refereed journals. You will provide expert technical advice on systems, work efforts, technical problems, influence the adoption of conflicting methods or suggestions, and negotiate agreements in choices for technical procedures.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
  • Subject to provisions of the Nuclear Weapons Radiological Controls Program for occupationally exposure to ionizing radiation (NUWEPS RADCON), when and if applicable.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NJ-03 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing technical engineering duties (such as configuration management, maintenance, or troubleshooting) to disposition discrepancies for support equipment (e.g., Missile, Launcher or Guidance Subsystems) for a Strategic Weapon Systems Program.
