About the Position: This Secretary (OA) position is located at Redstone Arsenal, AL with the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Office of the Deputy to the Commander.
Duties
Stay abreast of the activity programs as they relate to the applicable administrative and clerical functions
Able to use a variety of advanced functions of Office Automation Software using more than one software type.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Deputy to the Commanding General (DCG) calendar with authority to commit.
Coordinates scheduling with offices of staff heads, subordinate commanders, prominent civilian and government leaders including congressmen and foreign dignitaries.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret/Confidential Security Clearance.
- This position requires the incumbent to be a qualified typist. A qualified typist is define as an individual who can type at least 40 words per minute correctly.
- Ability to use Software Tools is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting training sessions in such areas as correspondence, telephone procedures, interpretation of regulations, and public relations responsibilities; receive, review, and edit incoming and outgoing mail for English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and military terminology and required formats; and successfully use a variety of office automation software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, scheduling calendars) to produce charts, graphs, and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NK-02).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (NK-02).
