This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS), Assistant Commandant for Engineering and Logistics (CG-4), Office of Environmental Management (CG-47), Washington, DC.

Duties

You will serve as the Deputy Office Chief and a subject matter expert for the development, execution, and oversight of the Coast Guard (CG) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and natural and historic and cultural resources management programs (environmental planning program) and environmental compliance program.  Assignments involve the full range of environmental issues associated with the oversight of environmental compliance/planning for Coast Guard operational missions and oversight and environmental compliance/planning for the acquisition/procurement, operation, maintenance, management, restoration, and disposition of Coast Guard real and personnel property and consumables.Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the team.   • This position requires a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include: Serving as a subject matter expert for the development, execution, and oversight of an Environmental Compliance Program; Performing duties related to environmental issues associated with acquisition/procurement, operation, maintenance, management, restoration, and/or disposition of real and personnel property and consumables; Leading a team of interdisciplinary staff that consists of a variety of occupational professions including, but not limited to engineering and environmental sciences. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
