About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. This position is a Term position and can be extended up to a maximum of six years. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. This is an obligated position.

Duties

Develops programs of instruction (POI's), lesson plans, advance sheets and related course materials for school and student use in Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) repair. Applies advanced education knowledge principles, practices, methods and techniques of mechanical, electrical and circuitry equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, repair and test ALSE Equipment. Monitors and evaluates progress in undergraduate courses, courses in advanced technical systems or lower level courses where students regularly have variety of problems. Conduct cross training for instructors and establish training programs for new instructors.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position requires that you obtain and maintain Instructor Training Certification. Personnel who are assigned to a faculty position will recertify every five years.
• An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: 1) Demonstrating a practical knowledge of developing Programs of Instructions (POI), lesson plans, and course materials for school and student's use in Aviation Life Support Equipment AND 2) knowledge of ALSE Operations and Systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Aviation Science and Aeronautics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
