About the Position: This position is located with the Defense Health Agency, San Antonio Market, 59th MDW Wilford Hall.
Duties
Prepares correspondence for Group Commander signature documenting steps necessary or taken to enhance healthcare delivery processes, plans, and programs.
Contributes to a Group and Wing culture of continuous improvement; engages personnel in the implementation of principles of a highly reliable organization.
Develops training materials for all levels of staff members, explaining principles of process improvement science.
Serve as special advisor to the Medical Group Commander, and leader of all process improvement initiatives.
Address deficiencies in meeting regulatory or policy requirements or undertaken to attain/maintain certification and/or accreditation under nationally recognized medical programs/agencies.
The objective of this position is to apply Lean Six Sigma and other various methodologies under Continuous Process Improvement to the various services and processes provided by the installation in order to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and approved procedures to provide findings using lean six sigma methodologies such as a green or black belt, to collect and/or research data for evaluations of a Medical Treatment Facility programs/operations, and review, analyze, and provide information from multiple systems used within a Medical Treatment Facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance or Budget.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
*Certification as a CPI/LSS Black Belt or ability to obtain certification within twelve months is desired.
