You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (PIPEFITTER) in the Pipe Shop (Code 960), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will prepare material request forms, indicate status including delivery dates and location of material, occasionally contacts suppliers to locate needed. You will sort information available in the database to develop task packages for execution of work. You will perform reviews of current schedules and determine the proper scope and time line of work for an individual.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Scheduling and leading Readiness Reviews for applicable TWDs. Reviewing material problems and initiating necessary corrective actions. Conducting quality assurance and support documentation that is necessary to complete the job and prepare or assemble them with the package. Interpreting blueprint sketches, drawings, technical instructions and work orders. I am considered an expert or I am consulted by other employees in difficult situations.
