You will serve as a Pipefitter Supervisor I in the Pipe Shop (960), Production Resources Department Manager (901), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will communicate performance standards and provide performance evaluations with feedback to work leaders and journey man.
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools for assigned units of work.
You will provide technical direction and general knowledge of work techniques, methods and equipment to workers and journeymen.
You will perform regular job site supervision and monitor conformance to procedures, practices and performance goals.
You will maintain accurate record of time expended and progress on assigned tasks
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- You will be required to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry up to 45 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to operate a crane, truck, tractor or vehicle.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Planning workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools for assigned units of work;
Establishing deadlines, priorities and work sequences utilizing technical and quality control standards;
Evaluating, developing, and conducting classroom and simulated mock-up training, on trade related critical jobs;
Coordinating necessary changes in work procedures with shop and technical codes after reviewing work documents and packages for adequacy and completeness;
Directing and planning sequence of work-steps for employees of all nuclear and non-nuclear assignments;
Ensuring personnel exposure to ionizing radiation do not exceed shipyard administrative control levels;
Interpreting blueprints, accompanying job orders, preparing, layouts, patterns, and sketches.
