In this position, you will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Information Security). You will be responsible for providing expert guidance to leadership with in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) on security and IT operations functions and supports special projects to further OCIO, OD, and NIH mission goals at their request. You will support the NIH Information Security Program's Security and IT operations activities.
Duties
Advise the OCIO leadership on the direction and management of significant NIH Information Security and IT operations activities under relevant statutory and Federal mandates affecting operational security.
Identify critical information security and IT operations risks and analyzes, plans, and manages NIH's implementation of special Federal initiatives related to management of NIH security and IT operations.
Support the detection, analysis and response to operational information security issues and the development and implementation of NIH information security and IT operations, incident response, and information security policy.
Contributes the design, implementation, management and evaluation of security and IT operations processes and procedures.
Support the development and implementation of program goals, policies, objectives, strategies, tactics and procedures for agency-wide information security and IT operations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for the IT Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-13 position, you must have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that you possess each of the following four competencies:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately;
Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND You must demonstrate in your resume that you have at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: managing and advising on information security and security infrastructure support, development, and administration; provide security infrastructure and software development support; provide guidance and technical support to managers, program staff, and development staff on IT security and security infrastructure; and developing, implementing, and advising on policies and procedures for information security and security infrastructure.
