Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of administrative support services to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Indiana. Typical work assignments will include: Analyzing support services process and procedures for the U.S. Attorney's Office. Ensuring procedures actions are implemented in accordance with applicable law. Making purchases within delegated monetary authority. Maintaining records. Receiving and distributing mail and packages. Preparing a variety of reports. Participating in property and equipment inventories. Performing minor maintenance duties and overseeing building facility related projects. Projecting and analyzing space and office furnishing needs. Operating warehouse storage and material handling equipment. Determining, distributing, and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing general administrative support related to acquiring office supplies, monitoring the operating status of equipment, submitting work/service orders for equipment or facilities, purchasing a variety of supplies or office equipment, inventory maintenance (supplies/property), property maintenance, oral and written communication with customers, or other administrative processes and services. Education: Possess a Bachelor's Degree or expect to complete the requirements for a Bachelor's degree within the next 9 months AND possess at least one of the following Superior Academic Achievement criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 higher based on 4 years of education and recorded on the transcript or at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in a major field or based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; OR election to membership in a national scholastic honor society or possess one full year of progressively higher level graduate education. Education at the graduate level must be in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration) and in an accredited college or university. Combining Education and Experience: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet the total qualifications. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of one full year. GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing the following types of duties: monitoring or controlling the budget; analyzing technology in relation to support service needs; and providing administrative support services in areas such as space management, purchasing supplies and equipment, security, mail, records, reproduction services, office automation, information management, and communications hardware and software. Education: One of the following types of education a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Financial Management , Public Administration, Business Administration) and in an accredited college or university. Combining Education and Experience: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet the total qualifications. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of one full year. GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing analysis of programs and policies to determine the effectiveness or efficiency employing techniques as cost benefit analysis, program trade offs and exploring alternative approaches to funding; developing and maintaining standard reports concerning the status of funds, expenses, and obligations; preparing documents using a variety of office automation software; experience performing standard administrative duties, including space management, equipment, security, internal controls, mail, records, reproduction services, forms management, and communications services; reviews and edits budget requests; analyzes estimates to identify imbalances among program areas to eliminate duplication of support services functions and contracting and procurement. Education: One of the types of education a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration) and in an accredited college or university. Combining Education and Experience: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet the total qualifications. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of two full years Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
