Duties

Serves as a Protocol Specialist assigned to the 1st Special Forces Command (1st SFC) Receives notification of pending visits by dignitaries, to include foreign and domestic political and military leaders, scholars and other professionals with defense interests. Evaluates, plans and coordinates arrangements for visits of military and civilian dignitaries. Plans and coordinates the arrangements for all social functions associated with conferences and major events. Controls Official Representation Funds (ORF) accounts and maintains an inventory record for memorabilia and souvenir items. Coordinates and provides protocol assistance for official presentation and events including honors, awards, promotions, retirements and assumption of Command responsibility ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • TDY requirement is required 5% of the time.
  • Extended work hours on holidays, weekends, and throughout the work week are required.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in experience in 1) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by agency protocol policies and procedures; 2) Applying knowledge of the organization and key personnel to plan, analyze, and coordinate protocol activities; 3) Applying knowledge of protocol peculiarities for foreign visitors to locate sources of accurate, current information for each area of the world; 4) Advising and instructing escort and support personnel on protocol matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
