You will serve as a WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR in the NUCLEAR PRODUCTION MANAGER DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will maintain proper chemical requirements while ensuring one hundred percent accountability of water moved. You will perform water tests and measurements that require a working knowledge of various chemistry and radiological components. You will operate processing tanks, filters, system pumps, flow meters, complex valves, and various system gauges. You will prepare metal surfaces for painting and inspection by using hand and power wire steel brushes, sanders, grinders, or other various site preparation tooling.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
