About the Position: Serves as a Tasking Operations Officer responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing all matters of administrative support for Army special operations plans, policy, and strategy supporting future worldwide joint special operations forces (SOF) requirements. This position is located in the US ARMY SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMANDDCS, G-3 G-31, ADMIN SUPPORT AND TASKING, FORT LIBERTY, NC 28310-5200 (D2)

Duties

Conducts research and analysis and prepares issue papers and recommendations concerning the integration of requirements to meet United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) initiatives. Manages the administrative task system in order to meet Department of Defense (DoD), Congressional, Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), and USSOCOM operational requirements. Coordinates with DoD, USSOCOM, and HQDA counterparts to determine USASOC responsibilities on matters impacting Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) policies, procedures, and key engagement matters. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on CG and G3 priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capability of employees. Serves as the Civilian and Military Human Resource manager for a Directorate that includes approximately 180 civilian and military employees. Manages G3 input on operations tasks and requirements, an ASCC-level command calendar, and key engagement lists for weekly briefings for the headquarters staff; facilitates the weekly Chief of Staff Synchronization meeting. Provides advice to the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) G3 to ensure that ARSOF requirements are identified and resourced in support of future generating and operational ARSOF requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-12.
