The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in the General Engineering field and to complete developmental assignments and training outlined in the formal training and developmental plan.

Duties

Performs electronics engineering work in support of conventional projects or portions of larger projects and programs under the guidance of a senior engineer. Plans and carries out the collection and analysis of information, data and standards used by the assigned organization to perform electronics engineering tasks. Researches problems and issues to identify cause, and develops solutions which take into consideration the methods and techniques of various professional engineering disciplines. Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development. Such assignments include the development of written summaries and reports to be used by higher level engineers, contractors and/or customers; leading teams of co-workers in completion of a conventional project; serving as a team member on large, complex studies; etc. This position requires technical and engineering work be performed using classified information in various media formats; all appropriate DOD and USAF security requirements must be met.

Qualifications

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: 1. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2)include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of electronics engineering policies, theories, principles and concepts, and familiarity with other engineering disciplines to carry out conventional engineering assignments. 2. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply electronics engineering rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior engineers. 3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 4. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.
