This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DIB and MRTFB DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Position is for an Electrical Worker.
Duties
Install and test a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components and devices, such as distribution boxes, monitoring panels, time and temperature relays, pressure and motor switches, lighting, fans and receptacles, etc.
Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot and/or replace wire mold, wires and electrical components and devices.
Build or fabricate and wire phase meter boxes, power distribution and other meter boxes as needed.
Perform testing on electrical wiring by utilizing tools such as test lamps, voltage testers, and ammeters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation T1 NACI.
- Pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Position designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
- Mission Essential position in the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Position requires a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
- Position requires an aerial platform license.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRICAL WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Electrical Worker tasks, 1) bend and install conduit; 2) install boxes and fixtures; 3) use basic hand and power tools such as measuring tapes, conduit benders, pliers, screw drivers, drills, and rotary hammers; and 4) keep parts and tool storage cabinets properly arranged. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending, and kneeling; and occasionally works in cramped and awkward positions. Required to lift and handle objects weighting up to 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices, and aids such as movable tables or jacks; required to use ladders in the performance of duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is usually performed inside well lighted, adequately heated and ventilated areas. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, soldering, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position.
