This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DIB AND MRTFB DHA for recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Position will be filled as a Term Appointment not to exceed 1 year, 1 day. Term Appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years. Employees on Term Appointments will be separated at the end of the Term Appointment date if the not to exceed date is not extended.
Duties
Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
Distribute a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, frequency arrangements such as 120V/208V - three phase; 440V/277V - three phase; and 120V - one phase through boxes, panels, and receptacles, and hardwires to equipment.
Fabricate various size power cables, electrical boxes, and subassemblies from drawings and wiring diagrams.
Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, and safe operation of equipment.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Up to 70% business travel.
- Position is subject to a one year trial period.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 1 year and 1 day. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRICIAN ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of an Electrician. Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions within shelters or vans. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks. Required to use ladders in performance of duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is usually performed inside well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Frequently works with trouble light and/or temporary lighting. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather and when on TDY assignments. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains, and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, solder, high voltage, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate to the position. Work in vans/shelters may be dusty.
