About the Position: Position is for an Electrician WG-2805-10. This is a permanent position.
Duties
Install, clean, maintain, repair, test, and adjust electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, tools, appliances, electric drills, grinders, and shop equipment.
Troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction, tests, assists in ordering, and replaces electronic components, makes major adjustments and repairs to specialized electronic systems and control units.
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components.
Attend training sessions related to special job requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of an Electrician. Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort
Works on ladders, scaffolds and in hard to reach areas. Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions. Long periods of standing, bending or kneeling are often required. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks.
Working Conditions
The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather and work areas that are noisy. Subject to injury from falling, electrical Shock, burns and rotary devices such as electrical motors.
