About the Position: Position is for an Electrician WG-2805-10. This is a permanent position.
Duties
Install, perform maintenance and repair electrical wiring systems, various types of switches, distribution panels, outlet boxes, electrical fixtures, tools and appliances.
Test circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter.
Inspect, maintain, repair, test, and adjust a variety of equipment circuitry and fixtures, such as, buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, switches, rheostats, thermostats, electrical drills, grinders and shop equipment.
Interpret building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and repair manuals to determine the placement of panels, boxes, wiring, fixtures and other related electrical systems.
Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduit.
Perform maintenance services, diagnose system or equipment malfunction, and make repairs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Possess, or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Obtain and maintain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
- Obtain and maintain an Aerial Platform license.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRICIAN without more than normal supervision. Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Physical Effort
Works on ladders, scaffolds and in hard to reach areas. Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions. Long periods of standing, bending or kneeling are often required. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks.
Working Conditions
The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather and work areas that are noisy. Subject to injury from falling, electrical Shock, burns and rotary devices such as electrical motors.
