About the Position: The Human Resources Assistant position is located at the Human Resources Command, The Adjutant General Directorate, Army Personnel Records Division.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
A recruitment/relocation/retention incentive and salary negotiation will not be available.
Duties
Apply a variety of legislative, regulatory and procedural requirements applicable to reserve personnel actions and activities.
Compile reports and other records for action or for information purposes.
Know the purpose, content, regulations, and procedures for military personnel automated systems, such as shown below :
Solider Management System (SMS), Reserve Data Maintenance System (RDMS), Interactive Personnel Records Management System (iPERMS), Retirement Points Accounting System (RPAS), Integrated Personnel and Pay System (IPPS-A).
Review transactions, utilizing resources and guidelines to complete or process documents and reports, or to determine their sufficiency, accuracy, and completeness.
Initiate or respond to requests for factual data or documents relating to military personnel files, status or transactions, or to inquiries regarding regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Incumbent must be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Utilizing an automation system to create documents, correspondence, and reports for personnel actions. AND 2). Reviewing laws/regulations related to processing personnel actions. AND 3). Maintaining a calendar by scheduling appointments for an office. AND 4). Typing/editing correspondence in accordance with established guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
