About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types.

Duties

Install and/or repair items such as frame structures, rafters, doors, siding, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trim, trusses, and beams. Conduct routine operating tests to ensure proper functioning. Perform minor electrical repair and/or maintenance work to project buildings and facilities. Determine welding techniques and machine setting to be used for required welds following guidelines such as resistance welding control.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• May require one-year probationary period.
• This position requires valid driver's license.
• This position may require handling of hazardous waste must complete introductory course in hazardous waste management with 6 months of hire.
• This position requires employee to wear a respirator and receive asbestos removal training.
• This position is a drug testing position.

Considerable arm movement in welding, carpentry, and masonry work, etc. All lifts over 50 pounds IAW MCAAP Regulation 385-8 will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two-person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside, exposed to all weather conditions. Work in areas that are exposed to dust, fumes, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Work on ladders, platforms, scaffolding or in close quarters. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors. Area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. Subject to possible injury from vehicular accidents, loading and unloading cargo, or from hand end power tools used. Subject to eye injury, cuts, bruises, contusions, insect bites and stings, scrapes, burns, infections, end broken bones. Individual(s) are subject to strains and injuries from lifting.
