This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Training Center Yorktown, Training Division, Response Training Branch, Incident Response School, in Yorktown, VA.
Duties
The incumbent serves as an Instructor at the Coast Guard National Search and Rescue (SAR) School. Presents Marine Search and Rescue training to a diverse student population utilizing a wide variety of instructional techniques and presentations medium. Responsible for planning and directing actions to produce audiovisual products that comply with and meet all professional-level video production industry standards and visual information documentation, such as live digital broadcasts and high-resolution photography.

Qualifications
GS-11 grade level: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work and demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s) utilizing audiovisual products; supervising or administering a training program; development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; and working in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.OROR at least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level:(A) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR(B) 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.(C) A combination of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in or related to the work of this position AND education graduate level education that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level.Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
