You will serve as a RANGE INSPECTOR in the S-3 Operations and Training Department ofMARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BLAZ . ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Duties

You will serve as Range Control’s on-site inspector and enforcer of MCBCB Range Safety Program. You will ensure general and specialized troop training; maneuver activities; wheeled and tracked vehicle operations; heavy engineer and construction equipment activities; storage, transportation and use of ammunition, explosives, and fuels. You will monitor through onsite inspection that units are utilizing ranges and facilities correctly; that weapon systems and ammunitions are proper for the facility. You will coordinate with Range scheduling and the Fire Desk to identify conflicts in scheduling and coordinates to de-conflict requested training to aid in training execution. You will identify and report range/facility maintenance issues.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Temporary Additional Dutyup to 5% may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing weapon training and tactics utilizing weapons and ammunition safety, inspecting the range and enforcing range safety programs and utilizing military land navigation and map readings. Education

Applicants may also qualify based on education OR a combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

Must have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent.
