You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the SYSTEMS SECURITY ENGINEERING BRANCH of NAVSURFWARCENDLD.
Duties
You will advise others based on your knowledge and experience of Information Security (INFOSEC) practices and policies.
You will review system activity and audit trails to ensure compliance with security directives and procedures.
You will identify probes, penetration attempts, intrusion path and methods in order to complete a root cause analysis and develop solutions.
You will provide IT Assurance guidance by applying rigorous methods to scientific research, investigation, analysis and assessments of cutting-edge information technology, cyber security, and network advancements.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Systems Security Analyst, Advanced level, within 12 months of appointment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR NT-05 (GS-13/14 equivalent): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: implementing Information Technology (IT) security principles to monitor and evaluate systems compliance with cybersecurity requirements. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing, implementing, and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Presenting updated plans to the IT security manager for review and approval.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
