About the Position: This position is as the Deputy to the Chief of Staff with The United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), managing the command staff and directorates within the organization. Located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina 28310.
Duties
Serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff in all areas of management, command and control, operations, and activities of a four-star Army Command Headquarters.
Oversees critical support services e.g. facilities, safety and occupational health, risk MGMT. and special staff functions.
Interprets the concepts and objectives of higher headquarters programs/projects in terms of impact on Command sustainment of Army readiness operations, missions, and responsibilities.
Supervises and provides oversight of the Secretary General Staff (SGS), Executive Assistant, Internal Review, Historian, Facilities Manager, Knowledge Manager, Protocol Offices, and the Special Troops Battalion.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Incumbent may have to travel TDY 25% of the time.
- Incumbent may have to complete a one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Advising senior executives (such as Chiefs of Staff, General Officers, and other top officials) on policies and changes that affect military readiness programs and initiatives; (2) Managing the development of short- and long-range program goals, plans, and procedures to advance military readiness programs and initiatives that comply with fiscal appropriations and regulatory guidelines; and (3) Planning, analyzing, and managing the work operations of one or more organizational segments to ensure teams meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
