You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/ OCEANOGRAPHER/GEOPHYSICIST in the Maritime Homeland Defense Division, Mine Warfare Department, Warfighting Support Center of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will be responsible for the collection, processing, and database of maritime homeland defense surveys of U.S. military ports and harbors.
You will monitor the progress of all projects; investigate delays, identify causes, and initiate or recommend corrective action to ensure deadlines are met.
You will review and evaluate completed work products to assure technical accuracy and exercise authority to accept or reject work products.
You will assign work to subordinates based on employee capabilities, priorities and difficulty.
You will develop performance standards, evaluate employee performance and provide technical and administrative oversight, advice and instruction.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning work, setting priorities and scheduling work as necessary to assure effective and expeditious accomplishment of priority work without adverse effect on regular and recurring work. Employs process improvement techniques in order to increase production efficiency and quality of work. Advise Department Director of problems involving the relationship of the work of the Division to broader programs, and its impact on programs. Organize and direct the production, and computations and data processing necessary to build and maintain mine warfare environmental databases in support of HLD ports and harbors. Monitor progress of all projects; investigate delays, identify causes, and initiate or recommend corrective action to ensure deadlines are met. Review and evaluate completed work products to assure technical accuracy; exercise authority to accept or reject work products. Experience interpreting survey plans, concept of operations, and operational specifications for aircraft and ship surveys.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Geophysics Series 1313
Basic Requirements:
Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).

Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Oceanography Series 1360
Basic Requirements:
Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
