The position is at the full performance level located in the Mental Health Department, Administrative Support Section at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHCS). The primary purpose of the position is to perform data collection and analysis from numerous Mental Health clinical databases that impact on delivery of health care, data analysis related to improving clinical informatics management systems within Mental Health.
Duties
Duties to include:
Provides analysis of clinical or admin data extracted thru VISTA, various data warehouses, and other databases for reporting to VHA, CBO, or other government entities.
Provides statistical analyses in support of current metrics & development of new performance/operations metrics.
Provides and interprets data on topics like clinic volume, schedule utilization, consult wait times, etc. for clinical teams and help teams apply that data to maximize efficiency and assess need for resources.
Interprets questions to support qualitative and quantitative analysis for team members and management work groups.
Extracts data from VISTA, VSSC, VA's corporate data systems and/or developing database applications to collect new data, or provide other tools to collect required information and update reports.
Designs and implements numerous data reporting systems for displaying data.
Responsible or designing data reporting mechanisms and database applications required for their support.
Designs and develops decision support tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of administrative processes and clinical care delivery.
Consults with appropriate facility staff to initiate, develop and execute projects in support of knowledge needs, and works collaboratively on process improvement projects using the collected data.
Involved in providing and interpreting data from national databases on topics like open encounters and SAIL performance measures.
Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30 pm (Pending Hiring Manager Agreement)
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/19/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Data collection and analysis from numerous Mental Health clinical databases that impact on delivery of health care, data analysis related to improving clinical informatics management systems within Mental Health, and the operation and maintenance of various software packages, data management, programming, and complex multi-site, multi-source datasets. Analysis of clinical or admin data extracted thru VISTA, various data warehouses, and other databases for reporting to VHA, CBO, or other government entities. Extracting data from VISTA, VSSC, VA's corporate data systems and/or developing database applications to collect new data, or provide other tools to collect required information and update reports.OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond Masters Degree.

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort such as carrying light folders or files may be required.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. May require occasional travel.
