You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Planning Branch (Code 222), Process Controls Division (Code 220), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will prepare and develop instructions and procedures for job summaries, abbreviated job summaries, task group instructions, E-specs, and test procedures.
You will work on scheduled completion dates for various phases of the planning process.
You will prepare procedures including resource requirements, duration and allowances for conducting tests on various equipment.
You will determine special equipment required to perform test and instruments needed.
You will prepare technical working documents.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying technical knowledge of nuclear carriers' main and auxiliary/propulsion, electrical, structural, and non- propulsion electrical systems and components;
Experience providing system and component installation or modification planning and information;
Experience providing shipboard and cost estimating;
Experience applying working knowledge of special interface and control requirements associated with total ship /system engineering , and planning design work; specifically SUBSAFE certification requirements and nuclear propulsion plant (or Reactor Plant Planning Yard) cognizant compartments, system and components;
Experience investigating and analyzing any or a variety of problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods and provide corrective recommendations;
Experience utilizing various systems i.e. Naval Maintenance Data Base (NMD), AIM, AIMXP, MAT, HAYSTACK, JEDMICS, MRQT, etc.
