About the Position: The employee conducts extensive fact-finding reviews of military personnel cases involving the Department of Defense (DoD) Identification (ID) Card Program, the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), and Mission Partners Identity, Credential and Access Management (MP ICAM) system.
Duties
Have extensive knowledge of AR 600-8-14, Identification Cards For Members of the Uniformed Services, Their Family Members, And Other Eligible Personnel.
Perform data entry correcting and creating DEERS records for DOD military members, civilians, contractors, retirees, veterans, and their families.
Uses individual initiative, personal judgment and knowledge in selecting a course of action which will bring the case to successful completion.
Provide assistance to military/civilian personnel, verifying officials, external Federal officials as well as internal DOD and Army elements on an "as needed" basis.
Coordinate with outside agencies IE. Defense Manpower Data Center, the Social Security Administration, VA, Army Reserves Personnel Command, and National Personnel Records Center, to verify applications and other pertinent/relevant information
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent subject to a One-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Specialized experience is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: performing a wide variety of personnel, administrative, and clerical tasks associated with the requirements and procedures of the DEERS/RAPIDS section. conducting extensive fact-finding reviews of military personnel cases involving the DOD ID Card Program.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management, Business Administration, Resource Management or Human Resources Management.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
