This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located in the AMC HQ G6, Cybersecurity Division located in Redstone Arsenal, AL.
Duties
Develops long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
Responsible for planning and maintenance of HQ AMC related Cybersecurity programs, policies, and procedures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of automated systems, networks and data.
Conducts threat and vulnerability security awareness requirements training. Conducts threat and vulnerability inspections and identifies technical vulnerabilities, risk assessments, and determines effective measures to minimize such risks.
Reports inspection findings/recommendations to the division chief. Identifies, analyzes and reports attempts to gain unauthorized access to information, system failures, or suspected defects which could lead to unauthorized disclosures.
Serves as the principal advisor to HQ AMC Cybersecurity personnel, i.e. Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), Information System Owner (ISOs), Systems Administrators (SAs), and IT Points of Contac
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a TOP Secret Clearance.
- Random Drug Testing is required..
- Travel may be required occasionally.
- Employee must be able to obtain within 12months and maintain certification and training required of DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Manager Level II.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience in developing, managing and planning the requirements for command compliance with higher level policy directives and executive orders governing IT infrastructure protection. Provides expert advice/guidance pertinent to CS program policies, guides, and procedures during all stages of the cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization process. Develops long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities; Coordinates technical vulnerability testing and network assessments for Command users to counter unauthorized attempts to enter Automation Information Systems.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information.
(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
