As the Administrative Specialist for the Marshall Space Flight Center Director's Office, you will oversee the internal and external facing administrative operations of the organization and will manage the communication, travel, and engagements for the Center Director and Deputy Center Director. You will serve as the lead administrative specialist that supports office operations and be the center domain expert for administrative personnel.
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Plans, directs, coordinates, and performs administrative work that requires application of the knowledge of administrative or office management subject matter for the Marshall Space Flight Center Director’s Office.
Prepares final administrative, management reports and correspondence at the organizational and Center level.
Develops, implements and maintains organizational records.
Serves as the primary point of contact for employees within the Center regarding administrative operations subject matter information, issues, and/or resolution.
Resolves a range of administrative and/or management subject matter issues that require the application of logical thinking in order to break down the problem into its component parts and address.
Represents the Center and its leadership to customers, stakeholders and employees.
Manages the flow of communication, access, and meetings/engagements for the Center Director and Deputy Center Director.

- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-09 level, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level
Providing administrative support to staff or executive management, including maintaining or updating calendars, coordinating travel arrangements, and organizing meetings in accordance with administrative processes and guidelines;
Serving as a point of contact for internal and external customers to provide information and respond to inquiries in support of a variety of administrative functions;
Organizing and maintaining records, databases, or correspondence in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) LL.B or J.D, if related
OR
e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level
Performing administrative functions in support of staff or executive management, including managing calendars, making travel arrangements, and scheduling meetings in accordance with agency requirements;
Serving as a main point of contact for a variety of internal and external customers (such as Agency level offices), including providing recommendations regarding administrative guidelines, issues, or operations;
Gathering and analyzing information to support the development of organizational functions, office operations, or process setting for the Center.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) LL.M., if related
