About the Position: This position is located in the DIRECTORATE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT BRANCH INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MAINT OFFICE.

Duties

Maintain industrial electronic equipment, components, and systems. Conduct tests and modification on electronic equipment and systems. Use theoretical concept of resolutions for unforeseen problems. Use tools for repairs and modification on electronic equipment. Assist in solving installation, operating, and repair problems on electronic equipment. Assist with solutions to operate and repair problems on electronic equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires an EPA 608 Certification to handle refrigerants.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid government motor vehicle operator's permit.
  • This position requires training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from a government provided source.

Qualifications

(1) Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. (2) Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of electronic equipment. I can perform the duties of following directions to perform maintenance industrial electronic control systems, subsystems, and components of industrial electronic control systems and/or programmable logic controller (PLC); assisting in the maintenance on computer software systems (such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)) and network technologies; and calibrating industrial electronic control systems. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Work assignments require light-to-moderate physical effort. There is frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds. Work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, bending and reaching is required. Working Conditions: Work is usually done inside in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Sometimes works outside, and may be required to work in adverse conditions in emergency situations. Incumbent is exposed to burns, electrical shock, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and burns.
