You will serve as a Museum Curator of NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY.
Duties
You will contribute to the producing and maintaining of exhibits for the museum.
You will research all visual and audio sources at the Naval History and Heritage Command for historically and factually correct imagery to enhance permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits.
You will work with museum staff members to suggest art and photographic imagery for non permanent and traveling exhibits.
You will travel to other museums and archives in the area to perform research on imagery and textual material to enhance future and existing museum exhibits.
You will develop permanent, temporary, and traveling visual (still and moving) exhibits.
Requirements

- This position will be subject to work an uncommon tour, which may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector researching visual and audio sources to contribute to the imagery of an exhibit. Examples of specialized experience include most or all of the following: 1) Writing scripts, publications, or other documentation for exhibits. 2) Collaborating with colleagues regarding imagery for exhibits or the location of the imagery in repositories. 3) Researching repositories, galleries, or archives to locate art, images, or documents to use in exhibits. 4) Assisting in developing traveling exhibits.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
- A successfully completed bachelor's degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
- A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education.
OR
- Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
- Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
- A combination of education and experience as described above that are equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
