You will serve as a Supervisory Museum Curator of NATIONAL MUSEUM.
Duties
You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments and the capabilities of employees.
You will take disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands and identify developmental and training needs of employees and provide and/or arrange for the needed development and training.
You will oversee the development of the interpretive and exhibits plan for the new National Museum of the U.S. Navy campus and oversee interpretation in the current museum.
You will conduct in-depth research in U.S. naval history and artifacts as well as assign research topics for subordinates.
You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the location, collection, and historical significance of the items in the Navy’s collection.
You will will be responsible for creating and maintaining briefing materials related to the interpretive and exhibits plan and will be expected to brief senior leadership and external stakeholders in an effective and professional manner.
Requirements

- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing interpretive and exhibit plans. Examples of specialized experience include most or all of the following: 1) Producing scripts, labels, catalogues, and other documentation for exhibits. 2) Developing design concepts, drawings, floorplans, technology requirements, and/or other products needed for the gallery space. 3) Responding to requests for information related to museum projects. 4) Conducting in-depth research in history and artifacts to contribute to the creation of exhibits. 5) Leading or providing guidance to junior level personnel.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses:
- A successfully completed bachelor's degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
- A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field plus appropriate experience or additional education.
OR
- Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field.
