You will serve as a Supervisory Museum Curator within NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY.

Duties

You will serve as the deputy to the Director of the National Museum of the United States Navy and work with the museum's Education, Administration, Campus Program Office, and Collections/Exhibitions branches. You will further the goals of the current National Museum of the United States Navy and play a key role in the development, design, and execution of a plan to create a new National Museum of the United States Navy campus You will be responsible for the timely administration of assignments in accordance with pertinent policies, practices, and procedures regarding museum facilities, operations and resource management. You will serve as the project coordinator for the Campus Program Office and supervise Campus Program Office employees

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Administer, supervise or perform professional work related to research, collections and exhibits in Federal museums. Examples of specialized experience may include the following:(1) Supervising cross-disciplinary of museum staff2) Creating, maintaining, and executing an exhibition plan3) Writing statements of work for contracting museum and design services4) Utilizing demonstrated knowledge of American history, including researching and publication5) Planning and execution of major museum exhibits, including working with diverse internal teams, external stakeholders and vendors and/or demonstrated experience in the planning and construction of a new museum campus, to include interpretive planning and gallery design Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

-A degree in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field.
OR
-Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
OR
-Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field.
