This position is located in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs’ Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC), which is responsible for the coordination, planning, and implementation of over $6 billion/year in foreign assistance resources that support U.S. government policy priorities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Duties
Serves a risk mitigation officer to the office advising on and serving as the technical expert for reporting on intelligence and national security issues that could negatively impact assistance program activities for countries in the MENA region.
Serves as the lead vetting officer responsible for accessing , reviewing, analyzing, documenting, synthesizing, interpreting, and applying complex and sensitive data and information.
Provides expert technical advice and guidance when interpretation, opinion, or decisions are solicited and assesses program conditions, progress, improvements, or reporting needs related to national security.
Develops strategies, analytical models, and evaluation methodologies for specific foreign assistance programs or for regional approaches.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing recommendations and consultation to senior management on an interpretation and application of analyses.;
Experience performing program analysis studies of intelligence and national security issues that could impact foreign assistance programs in the Middle East and North Africa region .
Experience with US foreign policy/national security
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
