You will serve as a Training Instructor in the Radiation Worker Training Branch, Radiological Support Division, Radiological Control Office, of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop, revise, and adapt assigned courses. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials, based on course objectives. You will present courses to personnel and encourage good class attendance, participation and conduct. You will evaluate instructional approach, develop student evaluation criteria and evaluate performance in training. You will maintain training records and develop training reports. You will perform other duties as assigned.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience integrating systematic work requirements into training and presenting courses to achieve the determined learning objectives; Experience working independently to develop, prepare, revise, and adapt lesson plans and training materials to conduct training and assess progress and performance; Experience applying education and training principles, techniques, and practices to instruct others; Experience participating in the development or substantial redesign of portions of courses. FOR THE GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience integrating systematic work requirements into training and presenting courses to achieve the determined learning objectives; Experience assisting with developing, preparing, revising, and adapting lesson plans and training materials to conduct training and assess progress and performance; Experience applying education and training principles, techniques, and practices to instruct others. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

GS-09:
