About the position: This position will be assigned to the Arctic Oasis on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Regular Full-Time position. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Duties

Assists the Director with the operations of the Arctic Oasis Community Center. As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; gets the work started and sets the work pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work related guidance; ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security and safety rules. Oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned events. Develop and administer a wide variety of recreational, social, leisure, educational, and cultural programs for the Base Community. Special emphasis is on programs for families and family members and special groups such as retirees, singles, and private organizations. Types of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Conducts needs and interest assessments to determine programming and instructional classes offered and independently determines supply and equipment requirements and assists in the financial planning for various programs. Identifies individuals with special interests and develops/conducts programs for all special interest groups, to include but not limited to; families, single parents, retirees, singles, and private organizations. Assists in properly identifying facility repair and maintenance requirements. Decorates facility to reflect holiday and program themes. Assists in maintaining the inside and outside of the facility in a neat condition. Develops and implements an adequate marketing plan. Provides effective cross marketing to other FSS facilities in advertising community center programs. Works with other staff members, volunteers, and/or individual/personal services contract personnel. Assist in developing and maintaining business plans, capital requirements budgets, income and expense budgets, and operating instructions. Ensures cash handling and financial transactions are completed and reported as required and purchasing and pricing guidelines are adhered to. Performs other duties as required.   • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evening, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC), and Installation Record Check (IRC).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead three or more Recreation Assistants. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities equipment rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must posses skill in dealing with the public. Knowledge of "point of sale software systems" to conduct daily business and reporting all financial and statistical data, theory, principles and requirements: ability in planning and developing budgets: ability in reviewing and making recommendations on proposed budget items; and the ability to interpret management, financial and budgetary data. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC), and Installation Record Check (IRC).

Education
