The Raymond G Murphy Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is currently recruiting for one (1) Administrative Support Assistant to work in Police Service, Albuquerque, NM. The incumbent assists the Chief with optima utilization of staff, space, equipment and operating funds, often adapting new and/or changing requirements. Participates with managers to address issues, resolve problems and provides recommendations for correcting or improving the organizations overall management.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide for the overall administrative management for the organization as needed.
Serve in support role to the leadership team and/or present suggestions and guidance to lower graded administrative support assistants.
Applies new policies, provide advice on requirements, maintain administrative systems, and prepare administrative paperwork.
Collect data for the unit's operating budget and/or consolidates material into an annual budget.
Manage budget formulation and/or execution for administrative expenses involving different funding sources.
Serve as the Police Service Purchase Card holder and/or Certifying Clerk for all purchases made.
Collaborate with multiple service chiefs to provide the needed services under rigid time constraints as needed.
Serve as the Personal Identity Verifying (PIV) Sponsor for police service personnel ensuring that all requests are made prior to employee PIV expiration date.
Maintain the RCS 10 Filing System and/or update the Records Inventory and/or File Plan at least once annually or in the event of i.e. office changing physical location, dispositioning/destruction of records, or when events change the data in the File Plan.
Review the implementation and/or efficiency of quality and/or inspection systems to ensure it meets or exceeds current Office of Security and Law Enforcement (OS&LE) standards.
Develop i.e. reporting procedures, sampling techniques, measurements and/or recommend and monitor corrective and/or preventive actions to ensure resolution of problematic issues or inherent weaknesses.
Assure ongoing compliance with mandated service inspection requirements as needed.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/29/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting time in grade, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
providing the technical expertise with the development and administration of the Quality Assurance of the Police Service Inspection Program,
providing recommendations for correcting or improving the organizations overall management,
experience in timekeeping and Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC).
manages the efficient use of travel funds, balancing conflicting demands for limited resources.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
