Duties
You will communicate orally and in writing with engineers, technicians, ship's officers, Contractor's officials, all SUPSHIP Departments, and other Government officials on a wide variety of subjects including quality, technical and policy.
You will generate and maintain reports, graphs, charts and records.
You will review and audit the Contractor's procedures in the shipbuilding disciplines with skill in recognizing the adequacy or the need for additions or changes.
You will apply your skills in planning, quality control, inspection principles practices and techniques.
You will participate in planning, developing, monitoring, and evaluating the overall assurance-engineering program for the Quality Assurance Division.
You will apply quality assurance principles, techniques and methodologies to plan and accomplish projects for products having complex characteristics.
You will liaison with ship's crew and Contractor in administering contract requirements, monitoring quality, inspecting, participating in trials and initiating completion reports.
You will investigate areas of special concern for existing or alternative equipment, procedures, products, or processes.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance analysis, inspections, reviews, or audits to maintain and ensure compliance with established requirements for a shipbuilding program, projects or constructions.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
or
a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
