This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA ENTERPRISE ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE/OE31.

Duties

Executes testing using software development methodologies, architectural structures, viewpoints, styles, design decisions, and frameworks across all lifecycle phases. Serves in the development of integrated transition strategies, plans, and action plans to ensure that key programs are evolving within the framework of agreed upon information architectures. Makes critical analyses and evaluations of the ramifications, advisability, and impact of large engineering projects. Formulates, conducts, or participates in study projects to translate planning guidance and capability objectives into information systems. Works independently on continuing assignments or projects that require application of standard well-established principles, concepts, and techniques of the occupation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Failure to provide all of the required information as stated in this vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating. Transcripts are required at time of application. For the Computer Engineer GG-0854 and Electronics Engineer GG-0855 Series A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional Registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions (U.S. Department of Education/National Association of Credential Evaluation Services Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-07, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Uses existing tools and methods to identify, preserve, and analyze digital programs. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-09, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Creating, maintaining, and writing/coding new (or modifying existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-11, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. Education

GG-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the qualifying experience requirement.
